The library of the Faculty of Economics is the University Library and Archives. Use of the library is free of charge for the citizens of the Faculty of Economics and Business, information about our services is available on our website.

As part of the Cultural Heritage Days, you can learn about the book adoption program of the University Library Foundation. Most recently, Pascale Andréani, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Hungary, provided significant support for the protection of our collection, taking over the cost of restoring Le premier livre d’amadis de Gaule (1555). In the frame of the ceremonial book adoption, our generous donor will greet you from 15.00 on the 18th of September, 2021 and the world-famous Dante Codex will also be presented. All visitors are welcome!

On the occasion of the seven hundredth anniversary of Dante's death, on the 14th of September, 2021 from 11:00 to 13:00, the Reading Room of the ELTE University Library and Archives will provide a venue for the presentation of the detailed Commentary volume prepared by the members of the Hungarian Dante Society for Part I of the Divine Commedy.

The Duo-Perpetual will give a concert in the hall of the University Library and Archives of Eötvös Loránd University (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.) on 18th of September, 2021 at 4 pm on the Cultural Heritage Days. The program includes works by Mozart, Bach, Piazzolla and Shostakovich, among others. All visitors are welcome!

According to the traditions of Eötvös Loránd University, the Senate of the University presented the awards to the lecturers, employees and staff who provided excellent work and outstanding performance at the opening Senate meeting of the academic year. This year's honorees included several staff members of the University Library Service who are committed to the cause of the university and library development.

On the 26th of August, 2021, the ELTE University Library and Archives organized its ninth professional conference entitled Traditions and Challenges. During a roundtable discussion, our guests could be informed about the following topics: Academic Libraries and the Pandemic, Open and closed: Focus on the User, and Modern Library Management of Museum Documents.

Our library welcomes visitors with regular opening hours and comprehensive service from the 6th of September, 2021.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2021, the book rental and return services at the ELTE University Library and Archives will be suspended at the Information Desk on the ground floor and the use of special collections in the Research Room will not be possible due to a professional program. Our services will be available again from September 3, 2021.

Elsevier has offered a 30-day trial access to the Scopus database and SciVal.

On the occasion of the Cultural Heritage Days, the illustrious Dante Codex, which was last presented to the public in 2007, will be presented on 18th of September, 2021 from 3.30 pm. Discover the codex online in our repository (edit.elte.hu) and also visit our exclusive book presentation event. All visitors are welcome.

Our guided tours focus on the history of the University Library and Archives, Eötvös Loránd University. The library palace was designed by Antal Szkalnitzky. Up-to-date technology of the time was used for ventilation, heating and illumination. The tour will take you through the entrance hall decorated with sgraffiti to the reading room with figures on its ceiling which symbolise sciences and arts. Besides the magnificent art and architecture of the reading room of the University Library and Archives, you can also see an oil-painting of the middle-aged Franc Joseph I. by Mór Than. We adumbrate in our restoration workshop, in which you can get a taste of bookrestoration. Behind the scenes you can learn about preserving our valuable documents and experience how a sewing frame can be used in bookbinding. All visitors are welcome! For more information, please visit our website.

The Reading Room of the Eötvös Loránd University Library and Archives was filled on the concert of the Festival Academy Budapest on July 23, 2021.

The University Library and Archives of Eötvös Loránd University will host the concert of the Festival Academy Budapest on 23rd of July 2021 from 3.30 pm.

We are performing an ELTEfind software update between July 19th and July 25th, therefore, our online search engine will be temporarily unavailable. During the maintenance, you can use our old online catalog to search, which is available at aleph.elte.hu. We recommend the ELTE Library WebApp for checking and extending loans.

In view of the epidemiological situation, the second quarterly report of the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee was held in the framework of a Teams meeting. Working group leaders reported on the results and changes of the last quarter.

The archives will be closed from 2nd to 19th August. From 23rd August, we look forward to welcoming our researchers and clients again. We wish everyone a good rest for the summer break! 

Based on feedback from our users, we have renewed our INeetABook service, which allows you to suggest books for purchase if they are not available in our library.

On Friday, July 2, 2021, between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm, the Hungarian National Archives (Budapest IX., Vágóhíd u. 7.) will hold the VII. Medieval Book Fair with the participation of nearly twenty book publishers.
