We provide information on which databases the Eötvös Loránd University will subscribe to within the scope of the EISZ in this year. The Electronic Information Service National Program (EISZ) provides access to electronic scientific content by purchasing a national license for participants in higher education, public collections and non-profit research.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, in 1773, Pope Clement XIII dissolved the Jesuit order, accelerating the process of the university's transfer to the state. Between 1635 and 1773, many distinguished Jesuits of great knowledge taught at our university, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the institution. In February our feature is on István Schönvisner, the father of Hungarian scientific archaeology.

The ELTE University Library and Archives has joined the National Library of Korea Digitized Material Service partnership programme, which has provided access to more than nine million digital documents, including nearly one and a half million books. The content is available on designated terminals in three libraries, the Library of the Institute of East Asian Studies, the Library of Faculty of Education and Psychology and the University Library and Archives.

Our series entitled Mosaics from the heritage of ELTE” presents some of the key material cultural heritage of the Eötvös Loránd University. The object of the month is the Cabaret poster.

In 2022, the University Library and Archive won 300 000 HUF at the tender of the National Cultural Fund for the purchase of professional archival books. The funds were used to purchase English-language reference books on archival studies, the professional tasks of university archives and the university's museum collections. The books are available in our archival research room.

For the first time, ELTE journals received the title „MTMT Qualified Journal”. Three online academic journals „Lejana”, „RussianStudies.hu” and „Journal of East Asian Cultures” have been certified. The recognition is considered outstanding both within the university and nationally.

We have collected the most frequently loaned books in the University Library over the past year.

The mission of the ELTE University Library and Archives, which won the Hungarian Heritage Award and – as part of the University Library Service – the title of Qualified Library in 2018, as well as the EFQM “Committed to Excellence” certificate in 2020, is to provide Hungarian and foreign academic teachers, researchers and students with domestic and foreign literature, intending to integrate them into the international circulation of scientific life. In Christmas time 2022, the ELTE University Library and Archives awarded the Pro Bibliotheca Universitatis Certificate of Merit to Anna Orbókné Jagiello and Kinga Sutócki, staff members of the Collection Management Department, thanking them for their high quality and prestigious professional work.

The 2023 calendar of the ELTE University Library and Archives presents the Jesuit missions of the early modern period through some of the library's museum publications.

On the 1st of September 2022, the ELTE University Library and Archives organised the tenth conference entitled Traditions and Challenges. This year's programme included presentations on the themes of Preserve, Protect, Serve and Preservation Practices in Higher Education Libraries.

The latest issue of the university history journal Gerundium (vol. 13., nos. 3–4.) contains several studies on the history of our university. Péter Tusor provides new data on the papal recognition of the university's foundation in Nagyszombat in 1635, Zsolt Kökényesi describes the aristocratic students who studied at the University of Nagyszombat between 1616 and 1773, László Szögi analyses the composition, social stratification and changes in the number of students at the University of Nagyszombat, Krisztina Tóth explains the circumstances of the tragic destruction of the university’s records in the 1950s.

New volume, "Practices of Research Data Management: Established procedures and pilot projects" has been published by the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and it is available online for free.

As of January 1st 2023, the L'Harmattan Digital Database will be available under a new name and at a new location that is the L'Harmattan Open Access és Archive platform.
